ABOUT
Sydni Oliver was born and raised in Michigan. Her passion for ceramics blossomed during high school where her teacher at the time unknowingly had a huge impact on her future.
She decided to ditch her career path defined by society and go to art school instead.
She's currently working as an artist and educator, a choice that has brought her nothing but happiness.
Artist Statement
As an artist, it is important to leave my mark to be discovered.
What motivates me is the collaboration between the clay and my surroundings.
The sporadic yet inevitable acts of nature provide a precedence for my work; the ceaseless rippling of water, slow formation of rocks and trees, the continual deterioration and rebuilding of the city around me.
My body of work focuses on the overlooked details of nature, it opens doors for scenarios to be created. Bringing detail to the unknown parts of ourselves.
