Collaboration Grid Murals
Grid Drawing and Painting - 7th and 8th grade
The students learn about famous paintings and artists. As a class they choose one famous painting to recreate on a larger scale. This is a great beginning painting project because it takes the pressure off students having to create a whole piece themselves. We learn how to use a grid in drawing. Then painting techniques, and how to color match. Students all get a small section of the original painting, then they enlarge it 500%. Finally we display them all together to make up a larger work of art!

American love project
Collage - 7th and 8th grade
My classes participated in a nationwide project from 29 pieces whose goal was to spread love across America in a time of need. After all the hate, discrimination, uncertainty, and fear of covid 2020/21 brought to our nation they decided we needed a little positivity. Love is the strategy, art is the vehicle. They all created collages with a famous quote about love. Their work was featured in a national online gallery, and in person in Washington D.C in 2022, marking the first anniversary of the January 6, 2021 event at the Capitol.
